Elizabeth Taylor Gold Cleopatra Cape & Rare Beatles Memorabilia up at Heritage Auctions

In an auction sale for which cinema lovers and mostly the fans of the enigmatic actresses, Elizabeth Taylor will be pretty much rushing to get a glimpse of, and perhaps successfully bid, the Cleopatra golden cape worn by her will now go under the hammer. Conducted by Heritage Auctions, famous for their historical memorabilia sales, will undertake the auction process and also involve the auction of rare records of artists such as Tony Sheridan and Beat Brothers, who had played alongside the Beatles on several occasions. The golden cape happened to be used by Ms. Taylor in 2 scenes for the 1963 movie, Cleopatra, won her many an accolade and is deemed to be a fans’ favorite, with an estimated price tag of $20,000. The records on the other hand are extremely rare, for having singles like ‘My Bonnie’ and ‘The Saints’, which is expected to fetch around $30,000.

Looking back at some of the most historical movie movements there have ever been, it tough to forget what Elizabeth Taylor had managed to create on the silver screen with so much aplomb. The famous entry scene and the exit, both still remain ingrained in peoples’ minds, and now an integral part of the scene is available as memorabilia in auction. It is the Golden cape that we refer to, which was once a part of the most expensive costume worn by an actor in a movie. What made it uniquely high in value was the use of thin panels of leather with gold enameling, along with hand stitched gold bugle beads, seed beads and bead anchored sequins. This it says a lot about the craftsmanship that had gone into preparing the costume.

The other memorabilia which is known to draw music lovers to the Heritage Auctions event, is the set of rare records of the ‘Beatles’, which had the likes of Tony Sheridan and the Beat Brothers play with them. It includes albums like ‘My Bonnie’ and ‘The Saints’, which initially didn’t do too well, but later came to revered amongst fans for the few left over records. In fact, these copies are even rarer than the special edition ‘Pink label’ promo version, and only 25 of them remain in existence, out of which the condition of this set remains to be in top notch condition.
